2021 Rockpile GSM
The Branham vineyard is one of the more unique places grapes are grown in California. Sitting at elevations above 1500 ft and located in the Rockpile AVA, this vineyard reaches above the fog line past Lake Sonoma, where it maintains a relatively important influence from the Pacific Ocean. The higher elevation keeps mornings nice and cool, and afternoons perfectly sunny, creating a very nice diurnal effect on the vines grown here. Gary Branham, the vineyard owner, keeps a close eye on the farming, and his expansive years of experience and knowledge are vital in keeping these vines healthy and happy.
The 2021 shows bright aromatics, with cherry, licorice, and inviting bramble fruit notes. The palate is medium-bodied, and portrays elegant fruit notes on top of layered tannin and spice. The wine carries nice weight and balance on the palate and is guided meticulously to the finish with more elegant tannin and strawberry fruit.
