2018 White Sheep
White Sheep should be the most elegant wine on our tasting menu. Think of it as classic Pinot Noir, with floral and earthy aromatics, soft tannins, and supportive acidity. Having said this, we are Truett Hurst and we would be remiss if we didn’t make sure that there was some delicious fruit lingering as well. It may show up as brighter cherry, raspberry, or at times even a little darker blackberry. Each year the blend changes a bit, but what’s always consistent is our determination to make an elegant, balanced wine that you can share and enjoy with your friends and family.
One of our favorites things about White Sheep is blending it! The 2018 comes out of three distinct vineyards, 8 unique blocks, and 6 different clones! We get our pick, and the diversity of the fruit creates concentration and complexity. On the nose we find rose petals, toasty wood, damp soil, cherry, raspberry, and strawberry. The palate is soft and elegant, with tannins skating across the palate. Fruit is present as well, playing quite nicely with light spice and perky acidity. The finish is long and pretty, slowly revealing even more fruit and spice notes.
