2018 Teldeschi Zinfandel
The 2018 Teldeschi is a shining example of what dry-farmed, ancient vine Zinfandel can look like out of the Dry Creek Valley. The aromatics are expressive strawberry, cherry Pepsi, cinnamon spice, clove, and burnt vanilla. The palate is lush, spreading shoulder to shoulder, but is still impressively soft and smooth given the bigger body on this wine. Darker fruits, like dewberry, black current, and strawberry compote are also present, along with refined cocoa and spice. The finish pops more fruit, but brighter, and is a bit surprising given how the dark fruited the majority of the profile skews. Spice and graham crackers are also present for support. The wine is very expressive now, but if you have the opportunity to let it open up a bit from decanting (or aging), we would highly recommend it. Your patience will be rewarded.
